About

Jardins des Floralies is a peaceful public garden on Ile Notre-Dame, the man-made island in the St. Lawrence River that was created for Expo 67. The gardens were originally designed for the 1980 International Floralies exhibition, and they've been maintained as a free public space ever since.

The garden features winding paths around ornamental ponds, flower beds that change with the seasons, and plenty of mature trees providing shade. It's a calmer, less crowded alternative to the Botanical Garden, though the plant variety is smaller.

For families with young children, the appeal is straightforward: safe paths for toddlers to walk, ducks to spot on the ponds, and colorful flowers to look at and smell. It's not a high-excitement destination, but it's a lovely space for a morning walk or a picnic with kids under 10.

The paths are wide and paved, making stroller navigation easy. There are benches throughout for resting, and the pond areas provide natural stopping points where kids can watch the waterfowl.

The garden is part of the larger Parc Jean-Drapeau complex on Ile Notre-Dame and Ile Sainte-Helene. You can combine a garden visit with a trip to the Biosphere, the beach at Jean-Dore, or the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Metro's Jean-Drapeau station is on Ile Sainte-Helene, a short walk or shuttle ride from the gardens.

The garden is open daily from early morning to late evening in summer, with reduced hours in other seasons. There are no washrooms directly in the garden, so use the facilities at Parc Jean-Drapeau before heading in.
