About

Activate is a technology-meets-fitness experience at the Stock Yards Village in Toronto's west end. Think of it as a series of game rooms where players use their bodies to complete physical and mental challenges, each room featuring different interactive technology — motion sensors, LED floors, laser grids, and touch-reactive walls.

The concept works exceptionally well for older kids, tweens, and teens because it combines the gaming element they crave with actual physical activity. Each room presents a different challenge: dodge laser beams without breaking them, step on illuminated floor tiles in the correct sequence, complete obstacle courses against a timer, or work as a team to solve movement-based puzzles.

Groups move through a series of rooms during their booked session, typically lasting about 75 to 90 minutes. Scores are tracked digitally and displayed between rooms, which creates a natural competitive energy. Families can compete against each other or work together depending on the room.

This is not suitable for young children. The challenges require coordination, speed, and problem-solving that work best for ages 8 and up. There are minimum height requirements for some rooms. The environment is dark with flashing lights and loud music — not appropriate for sensory-sensitive kids or toddlers.

Wear athletic clothing and clean indoor sneakers. You'll be running, jumping, crawling, and climbing. The facility provides lockers for personal belongings. There's no food service inside — eat before or after at the Stock Yards Village restaurants.

The Stock Yards Village location has free parking and several chain restaurants nearby. Book sessions online in advance, especially for weekend time slots which fill up quickly.

Why Kids Love It

Each room is a different physical challenge — dodging laser beams, jumping on light-up floor tiles, racing through obstacle courses, and playing giant interactive games. It feels like being inside a video game but using your actual body. The competitive scoring system between rooms keeps tweens and teens pushing to beat their previous scores.
