About
The Jardín Botánico Nacional Dr. Rafael María Moscoso is the national botanical garden of the Dominican Republic, located in Santo Domingo — about 2 hours from Punta Cana. For families who plan a day trip to Santo Domingo (which also has the Zona Colonial UNESCO historic district), the botanical garden is one of the best family-friendly stops in the capital.
Spanning 445 acres, it's one of the largest botanical gardens in the Caribbean. The tram tour covers the main highlights efficiently, including the massive Japanese garden, bromeliad and orchid sections, and the great palms. Free-roaming iguanas are a bonus hit with kids who spot them sunning on pathways.
With a 4.7 Google rating and a proper website (jbn.gob.do), this is a well-managed public institution. Entry is affordable — one of the best-value family attractions in the DR. The garden is open daily 9am–5pm.
Note: This is a Santo Domingo attraction, not in Punta Cana itself. It's worth it as a day trip but requires planning transportation (2+ hours each way) and committing a full day.

Kids who like animals and nature find the free-roaming iguanas especially exciting. It's genuinely one of the best botanical gardens in the Caribbean.
