Along Bavaro beach, rental stands offer kayaks, paddleboards, pedal boats, banana boat rides, snorkel gear, and parasailing, typically on an hourly basis. For older kids who have hit the wall on supervised excursions, the independence of paddling a kayak or navigating a paddleboard on their own is genuinely exciting.

Snorkeling directly from the beach can reveal reef fish and sea life, though the best visibility and reef diversity requires a boat excursion farther from shore. Families should note that the Caribbean side of Punta Cana (Bavaro) generally has calmer water than the Atlantic side, making it more suitable for younger or less experienced paddlers. Prices vary substantially between vendors on the same stretch of beach, and it's worth asking two or three stands before committing — vendors expect light negotiation, especially for longer rental blocks or multiple equipment pieces at once.
