National Technical Museum

The National Technical Museum in Prague is one of Central Europe's most impressive science and technology museums — and for families with kids, it's genuinely one of the best things to do in the entire city. The jaw-dropping main hall alone, filled with suspended aircraft, vintage automobiles, motorcycles, and locomotives, is worth the price of admission.

Kids of nearly every age find something thrilling here. Toddlers point excitedly at the big vehicles. Elementary-aged kids explore the transportation and astronomy exhibits. Tweens and teens dive into the mine replica on the lower level, which simulates a real underground mining environment with atmospheric lighting and period equipment.

The museum covers an extraordinary range of topics — transportation history, astronomy, photography, architecture, printing, and more — spread across multiple floors of a grand historic building. The scale is impressive without feeling overwhelming, thanks to thoughtful exhibit design.
