Voiles en Voiles (Pirate Ship Adventure Park)

Voiles en Voiles is one of Montreal's most unique family attractions — an outdoor adventure park built around life-size replicas of pirate ships and royal vessels, right in the Old Port. Since opening in 2015, it has become a go-to destination for active families looking for something more exciting than a typical museum visit.

The park's main draw is its aerial rope courses built into the ship structures. Kids clip into harnesses and navigate rope bridges, zip lines, cargo nets, and balance beams strung between the masts and rigging of the ships. The courses are divided by difficulty level, from beginner courses close to the ground (suitable for children as young as 3) to advanced routes that challenge even athletic teens and adults.

The harness system is continuous, meaning once you are clipped in, you stay safely attached throughout the entire course.

Beyond the aerial courses, the park offers a climbing wall, inflatable games area, and an archery tag arena where players shoot foam-tipped arrows at each other in a structured game — a huge hit with tweens and teens. The combination of structured challenges and free-play areas means families can mix active adventure with relaxed play throughout their visit.

The pirate ship theme is executed well enough that young kids genuinely feel transported. The ships look impressive, the atmosphere encourages imaginative play, and the staff lean into the pirate aesthetic. Kids run between activities calling out to each other about treasure and sea battles, and parents get to watch their little ones develop confidence as they tackle increasingly challenging courses.

Practically, Voiles en Voiles operates seasonally from mid-April through late October, with the most extensive hours in July and August (daily, 9:30 AM to 9 PM). Spring and fall hours are more limited, typically weekends only. Tickets start around $47 CAD per person for a 2-hour pass, with longer options available.

Non-participating adults pay just ~$5 CAD for a companion ticket, which is a nice touch for parents who prefer to watch from the ground.

The location in the Old Port means you can easily combine a Voiles en Voiles visit with the rest of the waterfront — the Science Centre, La Grande Roue, Clock Tower Beach, and the quay promenade are all within walking distance. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory for the courses, so plan ahead.
