About
The Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA is a major community fitness and recreation center on Avenue de Westbury in the Snowdon/Cote-des-Neiges area. It's one of Montreal's premier family-oriented community centers, with a full slate of programs for every age from infants to seniors.
For families, the highlights include a swimming pool with family swim times, youth group fitness classes, sports leagues, and one of the most popular summer camp programs in the city. The camp runs from late June through August and keeps kids busy with sports, swimming, arts, and excursions. Registration opens in late winter and fills fast.
The pool is excellent for families with young children. There are swim lessons starting from parent-and-baby classes up through competitive swim prep. Public swim times accommodate families, and the facility has proper family change rooms with nursing areas.
The fitness center, weight room, and gymnasium round out the offerings for teens and parents. The Y also hosts cultural programming, holiday events, and community gatherings throughout the year. It's genuinely a place where the whole family can find something to do.
Membership gives you the best value if you'll use the facility regularly. Day passes are available for visitors. The center is accessible by metro (Snowdon station is about a 10-minute walk) and has parking available. Note the early Friday closing (3:30 PM) for Shabbat.
