About
Dinos Alive is a touring immersive experience that brings dinosaurs to life through a combination of life-sized animatronic models and large-scale digital projections. The Montreal installation at Place Bonaventure features over 80 animatronic dinosaurs that move, breathe, and roar, alongside immersive rooms where floor-to-ceiling projections create prehistoric environments around you.
The experience is self-paced and takes roughly 60-90 minutes to walk through. Kids move from room to room, encountering T-Rex, Triceratops, Velociraptor, and many lesser-known species. Some exhibits are interactive — kids can dig for fossils, control dinosaur movements, or step into VR experiences (depending on the ticket tier).
The projections rooms are the highlight, with surround visuals that make you feel like you're walking through a Jurassic forest.
It's dark in places, which can scare younger children (under 4). The animatronics are realistic enough that toddlers may cry. Kids 4 and up generally love it, with the 5-10 age range being the sweet spot. Tweens and teens appreciate the production quality and interactive tech.
Place Bonaventure is in downtown Montreal, accessible by metro (Bonaventure station). Paid parking is available in the building's garage. The experience is ticketed with timed entry slots, so booking online in advance is strongly recommended. Weekend slots sell out, especially during school holidays.

Why Kids Love It
Life-sized animatronic dinosaurs that move and roar, plus immersive projection rooms that make kids feel like they've stepped into the Cretaceous period. Dino-obsessed kids (ages 4-10 especially) are absolutely glued to every exhibit.
Pro Tips from Parents
- Book the earliest weekday time slot for the smallest crowds and best photos with the animatronics
- Skip the VR add-on if your kids are under 6 — they may not have the patience or coordination for it
- Prepare younger kids (4-5) that the dinosaurs aren't real — the dark rooms and roaring sounds can be intense
What to Bring
- A phone or camera for photos — the animatronic and projection rooms are very photogenic
- A light jacket — the venue can be cool inside
