Praia da Parede

Praia da Parede is a calm, family-friendly beach located on the Estoril coast, a short train ride from central Lisbon along the scenic Cascais line. The beach is known for its sheltered position and relatively gentle surf, making it one of the safer and more enjoyable beaches for families with young children, toddlers, and even infants. The sandy beach is wide enough to spread out comfortably even on busy summer days, and the nearby seafront has a good selection of cafes and restaurants if you prefer not to pack your own food.

Changing facilities and showers are available onsite, and beach gear can be rented directly on the sand. The train journey from Lisbon's Cais do Sodré station takes around 20–25 minutes, making this a very accessible day trip that doesn't require a car. Parede station is a short walk from the beach itself.

Like most Atlantic-facing Portuguese beaches, the water can be quite cool even in summer, but children rarely seem to mind. Families with toddlers and infants will appreciate the shallow, gentle entry to the water along certain sections of the beach. Entry is completely free — you only pay for extras like parasol rental or food and drink.
