About

Exploration Tower is a 7-story interactive education center and observation tower at Port Canaveral, offering 360-degree views of the port, Atlantic Ocean, Kennedy Space Center launch pads, and the Banana River. Each floor features different exhibits as you ascend to the observation deck, covering space exploration, port history, local ecology, and the Space Coast's natural environment.

The observation deck is the highlight. The 360-degree view encompasses Port Canaveral (often with massive cruise ships docked), the Atlantic coastline, the Banana River and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, and the Kennedy Space Center launch facilities to the north. On clear days, the Vehicle Assembly Building is visible.

On rocket launch days, the tower provides one of the best public viewing positions on the Space Coast.

Interactive exhibits on each floor engage visitors as they ascend. A two-story simulation game tests navigation skills. Touch screens explain port operations (how cargo ships are loaded, how cruise ships operate).

A floor dedicated to the Banana River ecosystem showcases the local wildlife including manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, and birds. Space exploration content connects to the Kennedy Space Center visible from the windows.

For families, Exploration Tower fills a unique niche. It is affordable ($15/adult, $9/kid), manageable (1-2 hours), and provides context for the Cape Canaveral experience. Understanding the port, the space program, and the local environment enriches every other activity on the Space Coast. It is also an excellent rainy-day option -- fully indoor with air conditioning.

The tower is located at the entrance to Port Canaveral, adjacent to Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill (a popular waterfront restaurant) and a short drive from Jetty Park Beach. Combining all three makes for a solid Cape Canaveral half-day.

Why Kids Love It

Exploration Tower is a 7-story interactive museum and observation tower at Port Canaveral with exhibits on space exploration, the history of the port, local ecology, and the Space Coast's natural environment. Each floor has different exhibits as you climb to the observation deck.

The observation deck on the top floor provides 360-degree views of Port Canaveral (with massive cruise ships docked), the Atlantic Ocean, the Banana River, and -- critically -- the Kennedy Space Center launch pads to the north. On rocket launch days, the tower is one of the best public viewing locations on the Space Coast.

Interactive exhibits on each floor engage kids: a two-story simulation game, touch screens about port operations, a floor dedicated to the Banana River ecosystem, and space exploration content. The climb through the building (elevator available) creates a sense of progression and discovery on each floor.
