About
Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo is one of the most unusual and memorable family attractions in the greater Bangkok area, holding the distinction of being one of the largest crocodile farms in the world with over 60,000 crocodiles on-site. Located just south of Bangkok in Samut Prakan province, the facility is easily accessible by day trip and offers a genuinely one-of-a-kind experience that children remember for years.
Beyond the sheer spectacle of thousands of crocodiles in enclosures of all sizes, the farm stages multiple live shows throughout the day, including crocodile feeding and the dramatic and controversial crocodile wrestling performances where trainers place their heads inside the reptiles' open jaws. While the shows raise ethical questions that older children and teens can discuss meaningfully with parents, younger kids tend to simply find them jaw-dropping.
The complex also includes a zoo section featuring elephants, hippos, tigers, monkeys, and various other animals, as well as dinosaur replicas that younger children particularly enjoy. A large fish tank and reptile house round out the experience. The grounds are expansive and mostly outdoors, so comfortable walking shoes and sun protection are essential.
Food stalls and a restaurant on-site mean families can spend a full half-day or more without needing to leave. At Bangkok-area prices, admission remains affordable by international standards.
