Sea to Sky Swinger

The Sea to Sky Swinger is a tower swing ride at Playland amusement park in Hastings Park, East Vancouver. It's one of the park's more thrilling family rides — a large rotating platform that lifts riders in individual swings to a height of about 20 meters (65 feet) and spins them in a wide circle.

Each swing seats one rider who is secured with a lap bar and harness. As the ride starts, the platform rises and begins rotating, swinging riders outward at an angle. The combination of height and centrifugal force creates a flying sensation that kids find exhilarating. At full speed, you're looking down at the park and surrounding neighborhood from a significant height.

The ride has a height requirement that typically excludes very young children. Kids around 8+ (depending on height) can usually ride. It's less intense than a roller coaster but more thrilling than most family rides, making it a good bridge ride for kids working up their courage.

With a 4.7 Google rating, the Sea to Sky Swinger is well-regarded among Playland's ride collection. Riders consistently mention the views as a highlight — on clear days you can see the North Shore mountains, downtown Vancouver, and the harbor from the top of the swing arc.

The ride is included with Playland's unlimited ride wristband. Wait times are moderate — shorter than The Coaster but longer than the kiddie rides. The queue moves steadily since the ride loads a full cycle of riders at once.

Playland operates seasonally from May through September and during the PNE Fair in late August. The park is compact and walkable, so you can easily fit the Sea to Sky Swinger into a rotation that includes the other major rides.
