Lumbermen's Arch

Lumbermen's Arch is a large, flat grassy area along the waterfront inside Stanley Park, and it's one of the best spots in the park for families to set up for a picnic or just let kids run free. The archway sculpture itself is a decorative landmark, but the real draw is the surrounding space.

The area includes a massive lawn that slopes gently toward the water, picnic tables scattered throughout (arrive early to claim one on weekends), and a seasonal concession stand selling hot dogs, ice cream, and drinks. The views across Burrard Inlet to North Vancouver and the mountains are excellent, and the flat terrain makes it easy to keep an eye on kids from any angle.

What makes Lumbermen's Arch particularly valuable for families is its proximity to other Stanley Park attractions. The Fox's Den Spray Park is right next door, the Vancouver Aquarium is a 5-minute walk, and the Stanley Park Miniature Railway is nearby. You can easily anchor a full day in this section of Stanley Park, alternating between the spray park, a picnic at Lumbermen's Arch, and one of the paid attractions.

The area is accessible by car (there's a parking lot that fills up on summer weekends), bike, or the Stanley Park shuttle bus. The seawall path runs right past, making it a natural stop during a family bike ride or walk.
