About
KidSport BC is a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to help kids participate in organized sports. This isn't a venue or activity — it's a funding program. If your family can't afford registration fees for a sport your child wants to play, KidSport can help cover the cost.
The program is open to children and youth up to age 18 across British Columbia. Grants cover sport registration fees up to a set maximum per child per year (check the website for current limits). The money goes directly to the sport organization, not to the family, which keeps the process clean and simple.
Applying is straightforward. Fill out the online application, provide basic financial information, and specify which sport program your child wants to join. Applications are confidential — the sport organization doesn't know a child is funded through KidSport.
Processing typically takes 2-4 weeks. KidSport covers virtually any organized sport — soccer, hockey, swimming, gymnastics, martial arts, basketball, and dozens more. The sport must be through a recognized program or league.
Individual lessons or private coaching are generally not covered. This is one of the most impactful resources for families in BC. The cost of youth sports adds up fast — between registration, equipment, and travel, it's easy for families to face hard choices.
KidSport takes the registration fee off the table. If you know a family that might benefit, share the link. Many parents don't know this program exists.

Why Kids Love It
KidSport doesn't run programs directly, but it removes the cost barrier that keeps kids from playing organized sports. The grant covers registration fees for any recognized sport program in BC. Kids get to join the team or league they actually want to play on instead of sitting out because of cost.
