About
Cliffwalk is a cantilevered walkway within Capilano Suspension Bridge Park in North Vancouver. It's included with park admission — there's no separate ticket. The walkway juts out from the granite cliff face high above Capilano Canyon, offering dramatic views straight down to the river below.
The engineering is impressive: the walkway is anchored to the cliff by steel brackets, with sections that narrow to just a few feet wide. Some portions have glass-bottom panels that let you look through the floor to the canyon below. The path winds along the cliff in a series of platforms and bridges, taking about 20-30 minutes to walk at a leisurely pace.
This is not for everyone. Kids who are genuinely afraid of heights will not enjoy Cliffwalk, and parents shouldn't push reluctant children onto it. The walkway is safe — railings are solid and the structure is well-engineered — but the exposure is real. That said, many kids find it thrilling rather than scary, especially those in the 8-14 range who are looking for adventure.
Strollers cannot be used on Cliffwalk. The walkway is too narrow and has steps in sections. Baby carriers work, but consider whether an infant needs this level of stimulation. Kids should be old enough to walk independently and follow safety guidelines.
Cliffwalk faces west, which means afternoon light can be beautiful for photos but also means it gets direct sun on warm days. The surrounding rainforest keeps it cooler than you'd expect, but bring water. The walkway is exposed to weather — rain makes surfaces wet but it remains open in light rain.
Since Cliffwalk is part of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, plan to experience it as part of a larger visit that includes the main bridge and Treetops Adventure. Together, the three attractions provide a solid 2-3 hours of activity.

Why Kids Love It
Walking on a narrow pathway that hangs off a granite cliff face above the canyon is a rush. The glass-bottom sections let you look straight down to the river far below. Kids who are brave enough feel like real adventurers.
Pro Tips from Parents
- Do Cliffwalk first before the main bridge when crowds are thinner at the back of the park
- Don't push hesitant kids — the height exposure is real and some children find it genuinely frightening
- The glass-bottom sections are the best photo spots — have your camera ready
What to Bring
- Camera for the glass-bottom photo spots
- Comfortable closed-toe shoes with grip
- Water bottle — the walkway can get warm in afternoon sun
