Cedar Falls Log Flume

Cedar Falls Log Flume is a classic water ride at Playland amusement park in Hastings Park, East Vancouver. It's one of the park's most popular family rides, delivering a gentle water flume experience with a splashy finish that appeals to a wide age range.

The ride seats 4 passengers in a log-shaped boat that floats through an indoor dark section with themed scenery, then climbs a chain lift hill before plunging down a 40-foot waterfall into a splash pool. The drop is the main event — it's steep enough to generate a good splash but not so extreme that it scares younger riders.

Riders in the front seats get the wettest. On a hot summer day, this is a feature, not a bug. On cooler days, sitting in the back rows keeps you drier. The splash varies — sometimes you get a light misting, other times a solid soaking depending on the boat's weight and speed.

Height requirements are lower than most thrill rides, making Cedar Falls accessible to younger children (roughly 3+ with an adult). Toddlers generally enjoy the floating sections and the gentle build-up, though the plunge and dark tunnel can startle very sensitive kids. Most children who've been on water rides before will love it.

The ride is included with Playland's ride wristband, which also covers all other rides in the park. Playland operates May through September, with peak crowds during the PNE Fair in late August. Cedar Falls tends to have moderate wait times — less than the big coasters but more than the kiddie rides.

After riding, there's no dedicated drying area, so plan accordingly. The Vancouver summer heat usually dries you off within 20-30 minutes of walking around the park. On cooler days, bring a light change of clothes or a towel.
