About

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Toronto is an indoor LEGO-themed attraction located inside Vaughan Mills mall, about 30 minutes north of downtown Toronto. Designed specifically for families with children ages 3 to 10, it packs a surprising amount of entertainment into its space — rides, a cinema, build zones, and one of the most impressive miniature cityscapes you will ever see built entirely from LEGO bricks.

The centrepiece is MINILAND, a meticulously crafted LEGO recreation of Toronto's iconic skyline and neighbourhoods. The CN Tower, Rogers Centre, and even streetcars are rendered in incredible detail, complete with a day-to-night lighting cycle that kids find mesmerizing. It is the kind of exhibit that adults quietly appreciate just as much as the kids.

Two rides anchor the attraction: Kingdom Quest, where riders shoot lasers at targets from a moving cart through themed rooms, and Merlin's Apprentice, a gentle spinning ride where kids pedal to go higher. Neither ride is intense — they are pitched perfectly for the target age range. The 4D Cinema shows short LEGO-themed films with added sensory effects like wind, water mist, and even snow that delights younger viewers.

The real magic, though, is in the building zones. Multiple open play areas let kids build freely with thousands of bricks, and the Master Model Builder workshops offer guided sessions where a professional builder teaches real techniques. There is also a DUPLO Village area specifically designed for toddlers with larger, softer bricks and age-appropriate play structures.

A few things to know before you go: this is firmly a kids-under-10 attraction. Older kids and teens will find it underwhelming. Adults without children are technically not admitted without a child, which tells you exactly who this is built for.

The facility limits capacity, so booking online in advance is strongly recommended — walk-up visitors sometimes get turned away on busy days. The gift shop at the exit is strategically placed and very well stocked, so prepare your kids (and your wallet) accordingly.

The location inside Vaughan Mills means you can easily combine your visit with lunch at the food court or shopping at the other stores in the mall. Parking is free and plentiful.

Nearby Food

Vaughan Mills mall has a large food court with options including Popeyes, Subway, Thai Express, and New York Fries. Dave & Buster's is in the same mall complex. Pickle Barrel (nearby on Bass Pro Mills Dr) is a solid sit-down family restaurant. For a quick stop, the Tim Hortons inside the mall is convenient.

Why Kids Love It

Over 3 million LEGO bricks under one roof — that alone should tell you everything. Kids walk in and their eyes go wide at the sheer volume of colour and creativity. The MINILAND Toronto exhibit is a jaw-dropper, with tiny LEGO versions of the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, and city streets that light up on a day-night cycle.

The two rides (Kingdom Quest laser ride and Merlin's Apprentice spinning ride) are gentle enough for little ones but fun enough to ride three times in a row. The 4D Cinema adds wind, rain, and snow effects that get real giggles out of the under-10 crowd. But honestly, it's the massive free-build zones that kids lose track of time in.

The Master Model Builder workshops teach kids actual building techniques, and watching a real builder create something from scratch is inspiring. The DUPLO area gives toddlers their own space to build and play without getting knocked over by older kids running around.

Pro Tips from Parents

  • Book online at least a day ahead — walk-up tickets are more expensive and not always available
  • Last entry is 2 hours before closing, so plan to arrive well before that
  • The DUPLO zone is perfect for toddlers and has softer play elements
  • Wear socks — some play areas have a no-shoes policy
  • The gift shop at the exit is massive and expensive — set expectations with kids before you go in

What to Bring

  • Socks for play areas
  • Water bottles — you will be there longer than planned
  • A light sweater — the indoor AC can run cold
  • Snacks to supplement the limited food options inside
  • A small bag to carry any LEGO sets purchased at the gift shop
