Port Discovery Children's Museum

Port Discovery Children's Museum is consistently rated as Baltimore's best family indoor attraction and one of the top children's museums in the Mid-Atlantic region. Positioned in the Inner Harbor, the museum sits adjacent to the National Aquarium — making it part of a natural Baltimore waterfront family itinerary.

The three-story museum's landmark feature is the HX (Human eXperience) exhibit — a three-story urban treehouse constructed from reclaimed materials with rope bridges, cargo nets, and climbing challenges winding between floors. For kids ages 6-12, this is the kind of challenge they take on with serious concentration and emerge from radiating achievement. Plan to give them at least 45 minutes here.

For younger kids, the Wonders of Water section features water flow and splash exhibits designed for toddlers and preschoolers. The museum does an excellent job of zoning exhibits so mixed-age families aren't constantly managing conflicts between age groups.

One scheduling note: closed Tuesday and Wednesday with shorter Sunday hours (11AM-3PM). Plan around these closures, especially if visiting Baltimore for a short trip. Friday and Saturday 10AM-5PM are the best visiting days.
