About

Patriot Park sits right off Old Mill Ave in Pigeon Forge and it's one of the few things in this town that won't cost you a dime. The park covers about 17 acres along the Little Pigeon River, and for families who've been hemorrhaging money on Dollywood tickets and go-kart rides, it's a genuine relief.

The playground is the main draw for younger kids. There's a large climbing structure with multiple slides, a separate toddler area with lower equipment, and swings. It's not fancy or themed — just solid, well-maintained playground gear that does the job.

In summer, the splash pad area gives kids a way to cool off without driving to a pool. Bring towels and a change of clothes because your kids will be soaked within five minutes.

The paved walking trail runs along the river and it's completely flat, so strollers and wagons roll easy. It's about a mile loop and honestly one of the prettier walks in Pigeon Forge — you can actually hear the river instead of go-kart engines. Some families fish from the bank (Tennessee fishing license required for adults), and kids love throwing rocks in the water.

There are covered pavilions with picnic tables scattered throughout the park, but they're first-come, first-served. On summer weekends they go fast, so if you want one, show up before 10am. The open grass fields work for soccer, frisbee, or just letting kids run until they're tired enough to nap in the car.

Restrooms are available on-site. They're basic public park restrooms — functional but don't expect anything luxurious. There's a baby changing station in the women's room.

The parking lot is free and holds maybe 60-70 cars. On peak summer weekends and during rod run events, it can fill up. The Old Mill complex across the street sometimes has overflow parking.

Honestly, Patriot Park is the kind of place you hit when your kids need to burn energy without you burning cash. Two hours here, a packed lunch, and you've got a solid morning that cost you nothing. In a town built on tourist spending, that's worth knowing about.

Plan Your Visit

Best Time to Visit

Weekday mornings before 10am in summer — the playground equipment gets hot in direct afternoon sun. Fall is the sweet spot with smaller crowds and cooler temps.

Wait Times

No wait. It's a public park — show up and go.

Nearby Food

The Old Mill restaurant is literally across the street — their corn chowder and pot roast are solid and kids eat for about $7-9. There's also a Subway and McDonald's within a 2-minute drive on the Parkway if you need something quick.

Why Kids Love It

The playground has a massive climbing structure with multiple slides that keeps kids busy for a solid hour. There's a splash pad area that's perfect for cooling off after running around in the Tennessee heat. Older kids gravitate toward the open fields for frisbee or soccer while little ones stick to the toddler-friendly equipment section.

  • Bring sunscreen and water bottles because there's minimal natural shade on the playground equipment
  • The walking trail along the Little Pigeon River is paved and flat — great for strollers and a nice break from the playground
  • Restrooms are on-site but basic — bring your own hand sanitizer and wipes for little kids

What to Bring
