About

Predator Lagoon at Atlantis on Paradise Island is a massive open-air saltwater habitat filled with sharks — Caribbean reef sharks, sawfish, and various ray species. The lagoon is built into the resort's ancient Mayan ruin theme, so the surrounding architecture makes the whole scene feel cinematic.

For families, the best experience is simply walking the lagoon's edges and bridges, watching the animals swim below and around you. The water is clear enough that kids can track individual sharks from above. On active mornings, you might see feeding behavior or staff maintenance dives, which always draws a crowd.

For teens and older kids (10+) who want to go further, the snorkeling-with-sharks experience is available at extra cost with a certified guide. Participants wear full snorkel gear and enter the water with the marine life. It is an exceptional experience but entirely optional.

Predator Lagoon connects to the broader marine habitat at Atlantis, so a visit here pairs naturally with time at the Marine Habitat's tunnels and fish viewing areas nearby.

Why Kids Love It

Standing at the edge of a lagoon packed with sharks and rays, looking down at them circling just below the surface, is genuinely thrilling for kids of all ages. It is one of those rare moments where they feel the scale of wild ocean life up close without any barrier between them.

Pro Tips from Parents

  • Ask at the Atlantis activity desk about scheduled feeding times for the sharks — showing up during a feeding makes a huge difference in how active the animals are.
  • The walkway bridges over the lagoon offer the best top-down views. Bring kids to those vantage points early before other guests crowd them.
  • Teens who want to snorkel should book the slot the night before — spots fill up on busy days.

What to Bring

  • Polarized sunglasses to cut the surface glare and see the sharks more clearly
  • Camera with a telephoto or zoom capability — sharks stay near the center of the lagoon
  • Water and sunscreen — the lagoon walkways are fully exposed

  • Skip the snorkeling add-on for kids under 10 — the lagoon is impressive enough from the walkways and it saves significant cost.
