Jackson Hole Children's Museum

Jackson Hole is an extraordinary destination for families with older kids and teens — the outdoor adventures, wildlife, and national park experiences are world-class. But for families traveling with toddlers and young children (roughly ages 1-8), the destination can sometimes feel pitched too old and too extreme. The Jackson Hole Children's Museum fills that gap.

This hands-on discovery museum is built around the principle that young children learn through play, and the exhibits reflect that philosophy throughout. There are areas designed for different age ranges: a soft play zone for infants and toddlers, water play and construction exhibits for preschoolers, and more complex role-play and STEM-oriented exhibits for kids up through about age 10. It's the kind of museum where kids disappear into activities and parents look up 45 minutes later wondering where the time went.

For Jackson Hole in particular, the museum serves a critical function: it's one of the few indoor spaces in the valley specifically designed for young children. When afternoon thunderstorms roll in (a daily summer occurrence), when a toddler hits their activity wall mid-trip, or when one child needs a different pace from an older sibling, the Children's Museum is exactly what you need.

The museum is located on West Broadway — easy to reach from most Jackson accommodations. It's compact but well-designed, and the staff are typically warm and engaged with kids. Admission is modest; memberships are available for families who might visit multiple times or who have memberships at other children's museums (reciprocal admissions may apply).

This is primarily a destination for the under-8 crowd. Tweens and older kids who've outgrown interactive children's museum formats won't find much here, but for the target age range it's excellent.
