About

Extreme Adventure Cancun operates out of the Ruta de los Cenotes area near Puerto Morelos, about 30-40 minutes south of Cancun's Hotel Zone. It's an outdoor adventure park offering zip lines, ATV rides, cenote swimming, and other jungle-based activities.

The zip line course is the star attraction. Multiple lines run through the tree canopy, with the longest spanning several hundred meters. Kids who meet the minimum weight and height requirements (typically age 8+) can ride solo, while younger participants may be able to ride tandem with a guide depending on the specific course.

The setup is professional with modern harness systems and trained staff at each platform.

ATV riding is the second most popular activity. Kids typically ride as passengers with a parent driving, though older teens may be able to drive their own ATV depending on the operator's policies. The trails wind through jungle paths, and the experience is dusty, bumpy, and exactly the kind of thing adventure-loving kids remember for years.

Most packages include a cenote visit. After sweating through zip lines and ATVs, jumping into the cool, crystal-clear water of a natural cenote is incredible. The cenotes in this area are open-air sinkholes surrounded by jungle — swimming in one is unlike any pool experience. Life jackets are provided.

The location on the Ruta de los Cenotes means you're in actual jungle, not a manicured resort. This is part of the appeal but also means limited facilities. Bathrooms are basic, there's no air conditioning, and mosquitoes can be present. Come prepared.

Transportation from Cancun hotels is usually included in package prices or available as an add-on. The drive takes about 30-40 minutes each way. Most packages run 3-4 hours of activity time, plus transport.

This is not appropriate for toddlers or young children. The activities have physical requirements, and the rustic jungle setting isn't designed for little ones. But for families with kids 8 and older who crave adventure, this is one of the most memorable things you can do near Cancun.

Why Kids Love It

Ziplining through the jungle canopy is the headline thrill — kids scream the whole way down and immediately want to go again. ATV rides on dirt trails make them feel like they're in an action movie. Swimming in a cenote afterward is the perfect cool-down reward.

Pro Tips from Parents

  • Book a morning slot — it's cooler and you'll finish before the afternoon heat peaks
  • Wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet and dirty — no sandals or flip-flops
  • Apply reef-safe biodegradable sunscreen before arriving — regular sunscreen is banned at cenotes
  • Bring a waterproof phone case for cenote photos
  • Check minimum age and weight requirements before booking so kids aren't turned away
