Delphinus Punta Cancún

Delphinus Punta Cancun is a dolphin interaction facility right in the Hotel Zone, near the Punta Cancun area at Km 9 on Boulevard Kukulcan. It offers dolphin encounter and swim programs similar to Dolphin Discovery Isla Mujeres, but with the major convenience advantage of being in the Hotel Zone itself — no ferry ride required.

The programs follow a similar structure to other dolphin interaction facilities: a briefing session, time in the water with dolphins, and a photo review. Options range from a basic encounter (standing in shallow water, petting and feeding a dolphin) to a full swim experience (being towed by a dolphin, foot pushes, and a dorsal fin ride).

For families, the Hotel Zone location is the biggest differentiator. You can walk, take a short taxi ride, or bus from your hotel. No ferry tickets, no hour-long travel each way to Isla Mujeres. This makes it easier to fit into a vacation day and less exhausting for young kids.

The basic encounter works for children as young as 4. They stand on a submerged platform in waist-deep water and interact with dolphins guided by a trainer. The full swim programs are better for older kids (8+) who are comfortable in deep water.

Professional photos and videos are available for purchase at a premium. This is where the total cost can spike — the photo package often costs as much as the program itself. Decide before the program whether you want the photos, and check whether any viewing areas allow family members to take their own shots.

The facility is outdoors, so weather affects the experience. Sunny mornings are ideal. The water is warm year-round, and wetsuits or life jackets are provided depending on the program.
