Tips to Maximize Free NYC Days

  • BBG free days: Check brooklynbotanic.org for the current free-admission calendar. Children 12 and under are always free, so the only cost is adult admission on paid days.
  • NYBG kids free: Children 12 and under enter free on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings. Plan your NYBG visit on those days.
  • Bronx Zoo Wednesdays: Pay what you wish all day, every Wednesday. The most famous pay-what-you-wish deal in NYC.
  • Staten Island Ferry: Always free, always running. Round-trip Statue of Liberty views at no cost. Combine with the Staten Island Children's Museum or Staten Island Zoo.
  • Subway over taxis: A family of 4 can ride the subway for –14 total vs. –50 for a rideshare. Over 3 days, that difference funds another museum admission.
