Roller skating remains one of those activities that kids genuinely want to do — it has the appeal of movement, music, and just enough challenge to feel like an accomplishment. Asheville has indoor skating options that make for a good rainy day activity or a change of pace from the area's outdoor-heavy itinerary.

Family sessions on Saturday afternoons tend to be the best fit for younger skaters — the pace is more relaxed, the music is appropriate for all ages, and staff are more attentive to beginners. Friday and Saturday evening sessions skew older.

Skate rentals are available on-site. Kids with their own skates should bring them. Allow 2-3 hours for a full visit including getting skates on, a few laps, and the inevitable snack break.
