About

The Crayola Experience Orlando transforms the beloved crayon brand into a 70,000-square-foot interactive playground inside the Florida Mall. With 26 hands-on activities, it provides a creative, messy, and thoroughly entertaining experience for kids who love art, crafts, and color.

The star attraction is the Name Your Crayon station, where each child selects a crayon color, types in a custom name on a touch screen, and watches as a machine prints a personalized label and wraps it around their crayon. Kids take naming very seriously — expect deliberations like whether the purple crayon should be named 'Princess Sparkle' or 'Grape Galaxy.' The whole process takes about 5 minutes and the custom crayon is a cherished souvenir.

The Melt & Mold station is where things get deliciously messy. Kids choose crayon colors, watch them melt in a special machine, and pour the liquid wax into ring or animal molds. The result is a multicolored wax creation they take home.

Similarly, the Drip Art activity has kids painting with melted wax that drips from crayons suspended over spinning paper — the abstract results are surprisingly beautiful.

For tech-savvy kids, the Be a Star activity combines physical and digital creativity. Kids color a template of themselves, scan it, and watch as their colored character appears in an animated adventure on a big screen. It is a clever blend of traditional coloring and modern technology that delights the tablet generation.

The indoor playground occupies a large section of the Experience and provides essential energy-burning opportunities between craft stations. Multiple levels of climbing structures, slides, and tunnels give active kids a physical outlet. This makes the Crayola Experience work better than a traditional art museum for families with mixed-energy kids — the crafty one can color while the wiggly one climbs.

Additional activities include a coloring page factory where kids design and print their own coloring pages, a modeling compound station (like Play-Doh but Crayola branded), water-based marker activities, and a technicolor dance floor. There is enough variety that kids do not have to repeat activities during a 2-3 hour visit.

The location inside Florida Mall is strategically convenient. The mall food court provides affordable lunch options immediately outside the Experience entrance, and restrooms are plentiful. For parents who enjoy shopping, the mall offers entertainment beyond the Crayola visit.

A few honest notes: the Crayola Experience is not for all kids. Non-artsy children may lose interest after 60-90 minutes, and tweens over 10 generally find it too young. The gift shop exit strategy is aggressive — the exit path funnels directly through a massive Crayola store, so prepare for a negotiation.

Despite these caveats, for the target age range of 3-10, this is one of Orlando's best indoor activities and an excellent rainy day option.
